Day 17 – Relationships are Relevant

September 6, 2019

Blessings Consecration Partner,

It’s impossible to press into “Worship” without accessing relationships.

I love those who love me, And those who seek me diligently will find me.” Proverbs 8:17

I loved those who love me.

The word “love:” here comes from the Hebrew word ahad which means to love a friend or ally. Of course we know of God’s agape (unconditional) love, but for Him to love us as friend is an added benefit. Take a moment to think about your earthly friendships. What essential qualities characterize a good friendship? Is it quality time, uncensored conversation, and /or confidence knowing that person has your back? Well the same should be true of your friendship with God. He doesn’t just want to be your bail-out plan or the one you call when all other hope is lost. No, He desires to be your friend and connected with you in a meaningful way.

Those who seek me early and diligently shall find me.

A meaningful relationship with God includes seeking His advice first, not just when you are in trouble. Wouldn’t it be aggravating to have a friend who only came to you when he/she was in need? At some point you might consider distancing yourself from him/her. But how many times have we turned to God at the end of a matter, when all (human) hope is gone? Beloved, that should not be so. We should be in a posture of total dependence on Him, seeking Him early for every situation. Not only early in the morning but at the beginning of the drama! Therefore, make God your priority; seek His face, desire His presence, and become His friend. His word promises, “Then you shall call, and the Lord will answer; you shall cry, and He will say, Here I am” (Isaiah 58:9a).

What an awesome promise from our friend! He hears our prayer and will answer❤

PERSONAL REFLECTIONS

How is the Spirit speaking to you ? Reflect on Proverbs 8:17 and Matthew 5:23-24 and journal your insights.

Also continue to reflect on the worship song “The Altar” throughout this weekend.

1) Are you in the habit of seeking advice from others without first seeking God’s face?

2) God speaks to us differently, but He can often be heard as a still small voice speaking to our spirits. How do you know when He is speaking to you? Besides a still small voice, what other ways could He speak to you?

3) Do you consider yourself God’s friend? What steps will you take to draw even closer to Him?

2 Thoughts to “Day 17 – Relationships are Relevant”

  1. Bre B

    1) I do have a bad habit of going to friends first about things that are going on in my life rather than seeking God’s advice first. I’m making it more of a habit to trust God with the smallest things by keeping constant conversation with him throughout the day. Praying for guidance and my thoughts and mind to be aligned with His purpose for my life. 2) God sometimes speaks to me through dreams, something I may have read, or a message I’ve heard – then it is usually confirmed over and over again so God makes sure I get the message! 3) I do consider God a friend, my best friend. I can tell Him things I wouldn’t tell anyone else – He knows all and knows me in and out before I even tell Him. He listens and cares about even the smallest things that may concern me. He already knows the outcome – I trust Him to work it out.
“The Altar” – speaks from Day 16 – creating a space to receive. Keeping your heart open to receive any and everything God has for me. My heart cannot be hardened, but just able to receive.
